If you’ve heard about Orlando, you’ll probably already know that some of the biggest and most well known theme parks on the planet call the city home.
However, there are many things to do besides splash around at water parks, run through theme parks, and ride roller coasters. In fact, you can go shopping, check out the beach, and do all sorts of other fun things with your family. Here are some great ideas for the varied kinds of fun you can have in Orlando.
Take advantage of the beaches
Central Florida is full of wonderful beaches, and you owe it to yourself and to your family to take advantage of your proximity to some of the most desired beach fronts on the planet. You’ll even find the locals there when the weather is nice, as taking the cooler, the spouse, the kids, the beach towels, and the swim trunks to the beach is about as good of a way to spend a summer day as any. There are lots of beaches to choose from here, including:
* Cocoa Beach
* Daytona Beach
* Clearwater Beach
The Cocoa Beach and Jetty Park
There are several different ports for famous cruise lines at the Cocoa Beach, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruises, and the Disney Cruising Line. You can easily spend an entire vacation doing all sorts of things on a cruise if you are so minded. If your vacation is taking place in Orlando, you’ll only be a short drive away from the various cruise line ports, which means you can use Orlando as a starting point for a Caribbean adventure.
The East Coast
On the East Coast, you’ll want to check out Daytona Beach if you are a fan of NASCAR, as this is where the Daytona 500 is held each year. While you’re in town, you can also check out the Daytona International Speedway, where you can sometimes find cars racing at hundreds of miles per hour on race days. Of course, you don’t need to be a racing fan to enjoy the area. You can always relax at the beach or check out neighboring beaches here such as Melbourne Beach.
The West Coast
The west coast is where you’ll find Clearwater Beach, which has been named the most aesthetically pleasing beach on the panhandle for several years. It borders the Gulf of Mexico and the waters are clam while the sands are white. Of course, if you don’t want to spend your day on an incredibly beautiful beach, you can also take the family to Tampa Bay where there are even more cruise lines ready for willing travelers, including Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival.
Downtown Disney is an excellent location for Orlando families looking to walk around and explore life on foot. You can check out restaurants, concerts, movie theaters, and shops of all kinds in the area. If you’re hungry, you won’t find any better food than what’s served here. All of these locations suggest that there’s no end to the fun you and your family can have in Orlando once you set your mind to it.
